LES SALAUDS VONT EN ENFER / THE WICKED GO TO HELL  2:00

The Wicked Go to Hell - Les salauds vont en enfer

Two of last year's sexy discoveries—Marina Vlady (TOI LE VENIN) and Henri Vidal (LES MAUDITS)—are teamed in this twisty, relentless tale of two escaped convicts who get more than they bargain for on discovering an isolated beach house occupied by an artist and his lover.

LES SALAUDS marks the beginning of one of French noir's most auspicious careers — actor/director Robert Hossein (featured in last year's festival hit CHAIR DE POULE), who uniquely energized the French crime film for another decade after making his directorial debut here with his adaptation of a story by the celebrated crime novelist Frédéric Dard.

Marina Vlady, Serge Reggiani, Henri Vidal. Dir. Robert Hossein (1955, 91 min.)

CETTE NUIT LÀ / NIGHT HEAT  3:45

That Night - Cette nuit la

Burningly memorable in last year's UNE MANCHE ET LA BELLE, Mylène Demongeot returns with simiiar allure but a bit less cunning in Maurice Cazeneuve's stylish, twisted love triangle meets murder mystery. Demongeot is (what else?) a glamorous fashion model married to the art director of a leading French fashion magazine (played by Maurice Ronet, best known for his work in ELEVATOR TO THE GALLOWS).

Their love is being challenged, however, by Ronet's boss, a manipulative mogul who feels entitled to meddle in anyone/everyone's affairs (played with icy reserve by Jean Servais). His insinuations and demands escalate until Ronet is compelled to concoct a murder plot, and—well, that's where things get really tricky!
